Amidst the luxury apartment renovations, Greenehouse offers a unique glimpse of Baltimore’s treasured industrial past.
Originally built in 1896, “The Greenehouse” was at the center of the booming garment district in Baltimore city. In fact, Erlanger Brothers Clothing manufactured their best-known product, BVD underwear, beneath our very roof. In 1904, the tragic Great Baltimore Fire amazingly spared the historic building, enabling it to a part of Baltimore’s transition into the industrial age. Details such as exposed brick, original hardwood floors, and ceiling beams that have remained throughout the renovations give residents daily reminders of the building’s unique history.
